Sagres is great place for history fans as you can find there a fortress that was once used by the famous explorer, Prince Henry the Navigator.

The Fortress of Sagres was built in the early 15th century by Prince Henry the Navigator. It was used to monitor the high seas from a strategic location and was home to the first nautical school in Portugal. It was also the site of many important discoveries, such as the discovery of the New World by Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama. It is now a popular tourist attraction.

Visitors can explore the fortress, which is now a museum, and learn about the city’s history and its important role in the Age of Discovery.
